To make things simple, here are the key points of our hire agreement:

✅ Late returns may incur a £10 per day charge
✅ Equipment not returned within 8 days may be charged at full replacement value
✅ Booking amendments are free of charge (subject to availability)
✅ Cancellations within 2 days of departure incur a £10 administration fee
✅ The Hirer is responsible for checking the equipment remains secure during the hire period
✅ Normal fair wear and tear is accepted and will not be charged
✅ No insurance is provided with the hire equipment
✅ The Hirer must be aged 17 or over

Save And Drive Roof Box & Roof Bar Hire Terms & Conditions
1. Definitions
The "Hirer" is the person named on the hire agreement and must be at least 17 years of age.
The Hirer accepts full responsibility for all equipment hired under the booking, whether used by themselves or any other person travelling under the same booking.
The term "Equipment" includes, but is not limited to:
- Roof boxes
- Roof bars
- Roof racks
- Cycle carriers
- Towbar-mounted carriers
- Any other item hired from Save And Drive
The hire period begins when the equipment is collected from Save And Drive and ends on the agreed return date shown on the hire agreement.
2. Responsibility for Hire Equipment
The Hirer is responsible for the equipment from the moment it is collected until it is returned to Save And Drive.
The Hirer agrees to take reasonable care of all equipment and protect it from:
- Theft
- Loss
- Damage
- Misuse
- Adverse weather conditions
Normal fair wear and tear is accepted and will not result in additional charges.
The Hirer must not remove labels, modify, alter or interfere with any part of the equipment.
3. Lost, Stolen or Damaged Equipment
If equipment is lost, stolen or damaged beyond normal wear and tear, Save And Drive reserves the right to charge the following replacement costs:

4. Identification Requirements
Save And Drive may require proof of identity before releasing hire equipment.
Accepted forms of identification include:
- Driving Licence
- Passport
- Other official photographic identification
If suitable identification cannot be provided, Save And Drive reserves the right to refuse the hire. In such circumstances, no refund will be given.
5. Insurance
Save And Drive does not provide insurance cover for hired equipment.
It is the Hirer's responsibility to ensure they have appropriate insurance cover if required.
6. Collection of Equipment
Upon collection, the Hirer will inspect the equipment and sign the hire agreement.
By signing, the Hirer confirms:
- The equipment supplied is correct
- The equipment is in satisfactory condition
- The equipment is in working order
7. Fitting & Removal
Free fitting and removal of hire equipment is available exclusively at our Silksworth, Sunderland store.
Save And Drive will fit equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and provide full operating instructions.
The Hirer remains responsible for:
- Ensuring equipment remains securely fitted during the hire period
- Regularly checking fixings during use
- Using the equipment in accordance with the instructions provided
Save And Drive accepts no liability for damage to vehicles, property or third parties arising from the use of hired equipment.
8. Use of Equipment
Full verbal instructions will be provided when the equipment is fitted.
The Hirer agrees to use the equipment only for its intended purpose and in accordance with all instructions given.
9. Late Returns
Please return equipment on the agreed return date and before close of business.
Late returns may affect future customer bookings.
Where equipment is returned late:
- A charge of £10 per day may be applied.
- Equipment not returned within 8 days of the agreed return date may be charged at full replacement value.
- Any legal, debt recovery or associated costs incurred may also be recovered from the Hirer.
Extensions are not guaranteed and must be agreed in advance.
10. Product Substitutions
In exceptional circumstances, Save And Drive may provide alternative equipment of equal or greater value.
This may occur if previously booked equipment has been damaged, lost or not returned by another customer.
If the Hirer does not wish to accept the alternative equipment, a full refund will be provided.
No further liability shall apply.
11. Cancellations & Amendments
Booking details may be amended free of charge, subject to equipment availability.
Cancellations made within 3 days of the hire start date will incur a £10 administration fee.
12. Right to Refuse Hire
Save And Drive reserves the right to refuse or cancel any hire agreement at its discretion.
Where Save And Drive cancels a booking, any monies paid will be refunded in full.
Following such a refund, no further liability shall exist between Save And Drive and the Hirer.
13. Limitation of Liability
Except where prohibited by law, Save And Drive shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential or incidental loss, damage or injury arising from the use of hired equipment.
Nothing within these terms affects your statutory rights.
